How Could I?

He who troubles his own house will inherit the wind and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. ~ Proverbs 11:29

This past month as I was studying some scriptures, which are common to me, they resonated in a unique way.  In Genesis 39:9

There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”

As I was reading through this experience of  Josephs', I found myself thinking more of Adam and Eve than Joseph and his master's wife. I began to compare some things between Joseph and Adam. Of course, before Eve, there were no other human beings in relationship with Adam; nor was it just a household given for Adam to tend and manage.  The similarity is in there not being anyone whom was given more authority than Adam, and his Creator had not kept back anything from him but the tree of knowledge of good and evil.  Genesis 2:15:

"Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Both men were tested with a lust through a woman:

  • Adam, through the wife his Master had given him
  • Joseph, through his masters wife
As I read Joseph's response I was incredibly humbled:  ....." How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" Can we all pause and examine the tremendous gravity of the sins we have slammed against God?

I cannot begin to imagine what Adams ability to comprehend a never before seen or felt truth might have been; nor would I attempt, beyond this point, to compare these men's actions and intent.  However, this one thing I have extensively thought about: How on earth did Adam and Eve so casually disregard, seemingly,  how great God is and how inconceivable it was that He would bless them with such splendor and authority - of course at the same moment I reached the end of that though, immediately, my mind envisioned my own reflection many times over, instead of them.

My (our) God is SO great, has blessed me (us) so very much!......How could I ever do wickedness against Him or His precious Son? How can I bare to grieve His Holy Spirit which abides within me, sealing me till the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?   In closing, I beg of us all to see the lies of the tempter, realizing no one or thing is off limits as a pawn, and respond as Joseph: speak the truth of our Master with great respect and appreciation.  Also, no matter how long the trial assaults us, even if day by day as was the case with Joseph, that in the end when the evil will not flee, we will!

Most importantly, it is my prayer that through it all we will believe every word the Lord has spoken is truth; knowing in His perfect timing all will happen just as He states.  May we all be weak, yet courageous in Christ, that God alone may be seen as our Might.

Sending Peace and Love in Christ,
Kisses,
Candace

"You Certainly Won't Die"

Genesis 3: 4,5 (GWT)“You certainly won’t die!” the snake told the woman. “God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened. You’ll be like God, knowing good and evil.”

It is easy for me to sit here reading the sequence of events, as if reading a novel, and suggest what I am about to type.  However know in advance that I understand I didn't have to go through the experience as Eve did.  Because her life and many others God has afforded us wisdom.  Peter said it this way in 2 Peter chapter 3:
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand,be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Satan in his cunning way was putting doubt in Eves mind.  That's why we cannot veer to the left of to the right of what God says.  What He says is truth.  What God tells us is the end result.  He gives us many warnings along the way.   He is simply trying to say.....this is your destination.  You might not get there today, or tomorrow however I am a God.  I have set before you life and death, you choose your final outcome.

I pray that we open the gift of strength, wisdom, discernment and courage and that we ask Him to show us how His Love employs those characteristics to walk among those He puts in our path, in our life, to live with for eternity. Let's start or forever today.....His way; which is The Way of Life.  Selah....

With the Love of our Christ,

A New Unique Creation

(NAS) Genesis 2:22-25Then the LORD God formed a woman from the rib that he had taken from the man. He brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She will be named woman because she was taken from man.” That is why a man will leave his father and mother and will be united with his wife, and they will become one flesh. The man and his wife were both naked, but they weren’t ashamed of it.

There was a major change here. God did a new thing. Woman was the first of creation to be taken out of a life God created. God made this new creature unique –  to be reunited with man. Adam verbally confirmed this by his response to God when he said (my paraphrase): God you took a bone from my own body and made me something to care for. Adam was made in Gods image. God goes on to tell us that this is why…this is the reason that a man will LEAVE his father and mother AND will be united with his wife. And they will become ONE.

The next thing that happens is that the enemy entered the scene. God is divine. He knew what was happening up the road. He knew that after giving Adam instructions to protect the garden He would have to give him a reason to "fight the good fight". He also knew that in order to protect something you have to have a personal stake in it; such as fighting for yourself. Only when we can stop thinking about separation of what is yours vs what is mine and become united or one -  will the enemy (that comes to steal, kill and destroy) be a defeated foe.

Until the man covering our families see what he is calling his “woman”, until he sees that she is bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh…..the enemy will continue to try and take her from him. Husbands will you allow her to be taken? This fight is your fight – not Eves. You are Adam, God called YOU in to place. What will you do, will God find you faithful to the most unique creature he create.  He did it just for you, to give you something other than yourself to fight for?

Women, today remember you are to be a help, not an obstacle. Remember God has a way for you to help your spouse. Even if they do not seem to desire what God has placed within you to offer, take it to God and pray for wisdom, understanding, gentleness, patience, the ability to love above all else and for Him to protect your heart above all else…..for out it flows the issues of life.

With the love of our Christ covering each of you this day –

Candace

Desiring Gods Best

Genesis 2:21So the LORD God caused him to fall into a deep sleep. While the man was sleeping, the LORD God took out one of the man's ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
As I have been thinking over these verses in Genesis, several thoughts have crossed paths:

  • Adam did not find anything formed directly from the ground as he was desirable as his mate
  • God took something Adam already had within himself out of him to increase his life and make it "Good"
  • The word "took" in Hebrew also has a meaning of choose, take in marriage, receive, accept
  • The word "rib in Hebrew also has a meaning of side-chambers or cells (of temple structure)
  • When God closes up things they cannot be opened and what He opens cannot be shut
  • The word "flesh" in Hebrew also has a meaning of flesh as frail or erring (man against God)
  • The word "place"at the foot of (idiom) sweetness, subjection, woman, being burdened or oppressed (fig) of subjection or conquest
I ask that you think on these thoughts today request that the holy spirit guide you as you meditate on them.  Later this afternoon or before tomorrow I will add a second post to the topic.

In the Love of Christ with His heart I pray peace, joy and above all else love over you this day and forever, Amen,
Candace

Breath of Life

Genesis 2:4-7 (Message Translation)

This is the story of how it all started, of Heaven and Earth when they were created.

Adam and Eve

At the time GOD made Earth and Heaven, before any grasses or shrubs had sprouted from the ground--GOD hadn't yet sent rain on Earth, nor was there anyone around to work the ground (the whole Earth was watered by underground springs)--GOD formed Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life. The Man came alive--a living soul!

We learn more about this from Hebrew 4:12 (GWT) God's word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet. God's word judges a person's thoughts and intentions.

In Isaiah 42:1 (NAS) God speaks of His Soul and Spirit. In the Matthews Gospel this is reiterated. "Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My chosen one in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations.

Then in 1 Corinthians 15:45 (GWT) This is what Scripture says: "The first man, Adam, became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

I will close with Isaiah 26:9 from God’s Word Translation this is my prayer for us all:

With my soul I long for you at night. Yes, with my spirit I eagerly look for you. When your guiding principles are on earth, those who live in the world learn to do what is right.
With the Love of our Christ,
Candace
